Why choose you instead of a prep center?I tutored and taught classes at a prep center for 3 years, but the setup of a learning center didn't allow me to really ensure their success each step of the way. That is why I started Excel at Science. Now both students and parents can interact easily with me, rather than going through the "front desk" or other barriers in between. There is also the flexibility to tailor study plans and materials to each student. As a result, you get more personalization and quality at a lower price. Below is an overview of the pros of learning with me compared to attending a test prep center or using an online platform.

How does online tutoring work?I use a popular and easy-to-use video platform called Zoom. It allows students to share their class textbook or other materials on the screen, and I can also screenshare my iPad to show what I write/draw in real time. Once you sign up for online tutoring, the simple setup instructions will be emailed to you.

What are the benefits of tutoring versus small group classes? There are pros and cons to each. Tutoring offers focused guidance and a more personalized experience, but it lacks the social interaction that many students find beneficial. Small group classes will range from 2 to 5 students (a max of 5). While not all the attention is focused on one student, small groups allow for productive discussions among students, which can help solidify concepts. What you pick really depends on the student's preference and learning style.

Do you offer in-person lessons? No, as of 2020 all classes have been moved to online live or self-paced sessions. This is because we have received overwhelming feedback from students that the online sessions are just as effective and more convenient as well, since students don't need to travel anywhere to get to class.

What forms of payment are accepted?Venmo, Paypal, and Zelle are currently accepted.
